Saint Anthony’s festival takes place in June for four days: thanks to its religious, traditional and ancient characteristics it is one of the most important religious festival in Sardinia. The pilgrimage starts from Arbus and through the village of Guspini arrives to Santadi, it is 38kms long and pilgrims walk with the Statue of the Saint put on a carriage drawn by two oxen. Also horsemen, folk groups, the local band, the traditional carts “is traccas” walk with it. But the festival takes place in the hamlet of Sant’Antonio di Santadi for three days. The preparation of the festival lasts all year: decorations, embroideries, oxen and bread.
