The olives and oil produced in the area of Medio Campidano are appreciated in the whole island, in Italy and in foreign countries. Gonnosfanadiga and Villacidro are the most important centres of production in the area (they are included in the national initiative “le città dell’olio” – the city of oil) and also Arbus has got an important production of high quality extra virgin oils.
Olives are prepared in a simple way, pickled, with aromatic herbs or with fennel, garlic, parsley and vinegar as side dish for traditional meat dishes.
The oil, handcrafted produced and of high quality, enriches the dishes giving them more taste. It is very good on a slice of toasted bread or in salads.
