Honey

Honey production and bee breeding is ancient in Sardinia and in Arbus territory, too. In spring, the rich vegetation of the territory breaks out in its thousand of colours and smells and it gives the chance to produce many and different types of honey: thousand flower, asphodel, eucalyptus, thistle and orange blossom. The strawberry tree (arbutus unedo) honey is bitter and it is considered the most precious.

The honey, a part from being an important food, is used for its balsamic, lenitive and soothing properties. It is very tasty with cheese and it is the main ingredient in the making of traditional cakes: nougat, Pardulas (cheese cakes), tzipulas (frittelle). Don’t lose the Honey Fair in Montevecchio every summer.
