Sardinia is a land of metals and knives. In particular, in Arbus the ancient handicraft art of making jack-knives is still alive and they are called “arresojas” in Sardinian language.
These knives have a long history and they date back to the XVII century, after the Spanish Government forbade the use of fixed blade knives. The jack- knife spread between 1800-1900 among shepherds, farmers and miners as a tool for daily use.
A famous knife is the “Arburesa”, also called Gonnesa with a rounded blade. There is a type of knife called “Guspinese”.
